The Support Insurance Scheme is a new service set up by the Independent Living Service which is intended to meet the needs of disabled people who for various reasons, find themselves without support and who need an interim support plan.

Below are some frequently asked questions.

"How do I qualify for extra help?"

You need to be in receipt of a Direct Payment or be a privately funded individual.

"What can I use the scheme for?"

You can use the service to provide support while your Personal Assistant is Training.
If your Personal Assistant cannot attend due to illness or compassionate leave.
If you are recruiting a new Personal Assistant and you can foresee a temporary gap in your support.
