Governance back

HCIL is controlled and led by local disabled people. Only disabled people are eligible to become Full Members, and therefore with voting rights and decision making powers within HCIL.

The Board currently comprises seven Trustees / Directors. There are five disabled people, four of whom use HCIL services, and two non-disabled co-opted Trustees who have significant experience of disability issues. The Board meets monthly and also has longer strategic planning meetings through the year. HCIL is currently looking for new Trustees, please contact the HCIL Manager, Marion Tweed-Rycroft, for more information.

The Board is supported in its work by the Service User Forum, to which it delegates many operational decisions. At the moment the Forum is designing a new leaflet.

Non-disabled people may become Associate Members of HCIL, providing they support the aims of the organisation, and do not have any conflicts of interest. More information about becoming a member is available on our Membership page.

HCIL is a Registered Charity (No. 1099020) and Company Limited by Guarantee (No. 4624968).
