Aim of Service
A unique home support service offering disabled and older people in Herefordshire more choice and control over the support they need. This is achieved by establishing a partnership with service users, enabling them to choose their support workers, who are then employed by the ILS. Service users are involved in the recruitment and management of support workers by working together with the ILS Senior team.
ILS Principles
- The ILS encourages and supports service users to develop skills and knowledge to enable them to participate fully in staff recruitment, and to contribute to the ongoing management and development of their support workers
- The service user must agree to abide by the service standards, polices and procedures regarding respect and safety for support workers
Practical Information
- A named Senior Support Worker or Team Leader is allocated to each service user, who is the first point of contact for help and advice
- Emergency and relief support provided
- After hours support provided
- The ILS has employers and public liability insurance cover
- All support workers have a Criminal Records Bureau check
- All support workers are trained in line with The National Induction Standards
- Support workers undertake NVQ 2 or 3 training, and any other training that will help them support our service users
This service is available to people referred by the Social Services Department or Primary Care Trust and to people who wish to make a private arrangement with us.
